Historic Highway 80

Four Towns, One Highway, Countless Adventures Ahead

This might be the most epic road trip you’ll ever take.

There’s a road in southern Arizona where the West still lives and breathes. Just southeast of Tucson, Highway 80 winds through a string of storied towns—Benson, Tombstone, Bisbee, and Douglas—each about 25 minutes apart, each offering a fresh chapter in the tale of the American frontier.

First stop is Benson, a perfect mix of small-town charm and geological wonder. Tour the historic Benson Railroad Museum before heading underground at Kartchner Caverns State Park, where limestone formations tell their ancient tales. It’s

Ride into Tombstone, where the spirit of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday still haunts the dusty streets. Catch a gunfight at the O.K. Corral, grab a whiskey or big beer at Big Nose Kate’s Saloon, and walk the same wooden sidewalks once trodden by legends and outlaws of the West.

Keep riding to Bisbee, a colorful mining town turned artist haven tucked into the Mule Mountains. Explore the Queen Mine Tour, browse one-of-a-kind galleries and vintage

shops, or take in the sweeping desert views from the Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb trail.

Finish your journey in Douglas, where Mexican and American heritage meet in a place of historic grandeur. Marvel at the marble-lined Gadsden Hotel, visit the Douglas-Williams House, and soak up the relaxed, sun-drenched borderland atmosphere.

This isn’t just a road trip—it’s a ride through history, art, grit, and gold. And every 25 minutes or so, you’re rewarded with another unforgettable dusty town along one stretch of desert highway.
