Espresso Art Cafe
Just steps from the University of Arizona in Main Gate Square is a true community hangout beloved by students, families, artists, locals, and visitors alike. Every corner of this family-owned business tells a story, from the eclectic décor and well-loved furniture to the collection of quirky treasures gathered over the years. It’s cozy, creative, a little unexpected, and unmistakably Tucson.
“We had a regular recently call our café a wabi-sabi place. Wabi-sabi is a Japanese mindset to find beauty in imperfection,” said Co-owner and Café Manager Domino Mannheim. “I think we’re very much like that. The space was an international café, and we kept a bunch of Greek statues that are everywhere, along with the original deep reds, greens, and woody colors. It’s also packed with weird, hidden knickknacks.”
By day, Espresso Art Café, Cocktail Bar & Hookah Lounge serves handcrafted espresso drinks, inventive seasonal matchas, teas, pastries, light bites, and colorful refreshers made with tea, lemonade, and fresh fruit. And don’t be surprised if the menu has changed since your last visit. New seasonal coffee and matcha creations roll out regularly.
As the sun sets, the café transforms. While the full-service bar and hookah experience invite you to settle in, a hidden speakeasy cocktail bar lies deep within the café; just follow the wide hallway where guests gather. People come together in the speakeasy for U of A football and basketball games or simply to hang out, and the bartenders serve themed drinks to suit the occasion.
